The Cold Grips of Winter

Utah county is still fully in the grips of winter. Of course, that means snow, ice, and inversion. Luckily, we have had a couple of storms over the last few days that have cleared up the inversion. Regardless, it continues to be very cold.

Earlier this year, it actually got cold enough that we had some problems with our pipes. Luckily, the pipe that broke only poured water out on the outside of our house. Here are a couple of pictures of what resulted.

As you can probably see, the pipe leading into the swamp cooler broke. We had winterized the swamp cooler and turned off the water leading to it, but the valve turning off the water was faulty. Consequently, we had Lake Placid in our back yard.

The good thing about the cold is that you can bundle up against it. Dashiel tries to stay warm at all times. As a result, he has taken to wearing his winter clothes inside.
